Electric vehicle (EV) technology has largely overcome early challenges so implementing these new, emission free technologies offers a highly visible, economical and sustainable solution. Uptake of electric vehicles has been relatively slow, due in some part to misconceptions such as limited range (known as range anxiety) - EVs are no longer ‘milk floats’ and can now outperform their petrol/diesel counterparts.
How it works
Driving an EV is an unknown for many people. Taxi drivers are often unaware of the feasibility for business use and the benefits they can bring. Electric Blue seeks to raise awareness of and build engagement in, the transition to a fully electric taxi fleet.
The EVent(s) will run in partnership with you, the local authority, the format can vary but we suggest:
- A morning session for taxi drivers; an informal event where drivers are presented with EVolve findings (where applicable) the opportunity for a test drive, and a short feedback session on the future of electric taxis
- The afternoon event is tailored for the local authority - including dealers who may supply EVs - such as Nissan or Renault for test drives during the EVent
- An evening event will engage the local community in supporting the introduction of electric taxis: by raising awareness, dispelling myths and concerns and securing commitments to use the e-taxis
We will be responsible for the planning and delivery of each event, however in order to ensure the maximum value for the event we ask that the local authority liaise with their taxi drivers and fleets as well as internal staff. Please contact Electric Blue for any assistance in contacting drivers and fleets. We can provide flyers to circulate prior to any event.
